YY DANCE COMPANY
YY Dance Company is a New York City based not for profit contemporary dance ensemble composed of freelance dance artists, who collaborate with Yin in creating and performing choreographic works on national and international performance platforms. The company boasts touring credits in China and Germany, presenting works at various international dance festivals, namely Schrit_tmacher Festival 2016, 2018 and the company has been invited back for the third time to perform at the opening week of the festival 2019 in Aachen, Germany,
YY Dance Company aims to explore unique movement vocabulary inspired by Chinese classical and folk dance elements, combined with contemporary dance technique, forming a hybrid of contemporary dance language called FoCo Technique. The vision for YYDC is to incorporate this signature movement style in choreography and commission, to produce original, unique and emotionally and physically charged performances under the direction of artistic director Yin Yue and to present the works national and internationally; to establish and develop FoCo Technique into a fundamental training tool that advances dancers' practice and deepens their understanding of mindful physical practice; to promote FoCo Technique into a global recognized training method for young dancers, professionals as well as dance practitioners; To cultivate audiences' interest in dance especially in contemporary dance by presenting artistically responsibility and socially conscious works.
The company has presented works at dance festivals such as schrit_tmacher Festival, SummerStage, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside Out, New York International Fringe Festival, Open Door Dance Festival in Iowa City, The Wave Rising Series, DUMBO DANCE Festival, The Current Sessions, Dancenow [NYC] at Joe's Pub and many more. In addition, YYDC has performed at venues such as Hanover International Choreographic competition, Joyce SoHo Theater, Peridance Theater, Lincoln Center Rosh Hall, New York Live Arts and many others.
In addition to performance, YY Dance Company also re-staged repertories at universities, companies and dance studios around the world.
